Sunday 3 October: 2010 UCI Road Cycling World Championship.
Let's get together to cheer on our Belgian and Aussie riders at the World Championship Cycling!
Gear up in your best Belgian outfit, pack your picnic, and let's show our heroes of cycling some Belgian pride!
The world championship of cycling, where Aussie Cadel Evans will be defending the world title, takes place in Melbourne and Geelong this year between Wed 29 Sept and Sun 3 Oct. There are time trials for men, women and young riders, as well as a road race. Top of the bill will be the 262.7km road race for the elite men from Federation Square in Melbourne to the Circuit laid out especially in Geelong. With the Belgian Club of Victoria we are gathering a team of supporters to cheer on our Belgian (and Aussie) heroes at the circuit in Geelong on Sunday 3 October. The riders will do 11 laps here, giving us multiple opportunities to support them. The race starts at 10am in Melbourne, so we will aim to meet in Geelong in one of the designated car parks around this time, in order to find a good spot near the track. From the car parks there will be free shuttle buses to take us to the circuit. More info on the Park and Ride parking will be posted online soon. So... rouse up your kids, partners, in-laws and friends to put on their Belgian hats and make the year the Cycling World Championship came to Victoria one to remember! |
